Hello

My name is John David Gallagher, and I am a student at Lake Forest Academy. I am working on a research project for a Senior Global Capstone class. My project is focused on the brain development of children who have been placed in institutions (orphanages and the foster care systems specifically)

My Story

The photo above is a picture of my family taken over 10 years ago. I have three younger siblings who are all adopted, and two older, biological siblings. After adopting my younger sister Hannah, my Dad was inspired to found an organization called 1 Million Home (Formerly known as Chosen and Dearly loved) which aims to reunify orphaned children with their families and help children become adopted when it is necessary. My life experiences have given me a big heart for the many orphaned children throughout the world who have a very hard life because of their improper brain development due to overly stressful circumstances. My experience in life has taught me the importance of the care and nurture of a primary caregiver in the development of the brain.
